HTC Desire Z launching in India on Jan 3 for Rs 29,699?

31 Dec

Online retailer, Flipkart is on a roll these days. After revealing the India launch of the HTC HD7, 7 Mozart and Desire HD, it now claims that the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer will also launch the Desire Z on January 3! The site lists the MRP for the Desire Z as Rs 29,699 and is offering it for Rs 25,799.

The Desire Z runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo) and sports a 3.7-inch WVGA display. The biggest draw, however, is its slide-out (hinge ‘Z’ slide, if we may) QWERTY keypad. We believe it will be a great buy at that price and expect both the Desire Z and Desire HD to do well in India. Now time for its specs:

Vodafone to launch HTC Desire HD and Desire Z in India

    8 Oct

We had reported earlier that HTC was hosting a party on October 7 and we were hoping we would get to see some new Windows Phone 7 gear. But it seems that the event was just to announce the Asia Pacific launch of the Desire Z and the Desire HD. Now the good news, the two Android smartphones will be available in India pretty soon with Vodafone. It might give an impression that the devices would be locked to Vodafone, but our experience suggests that it is simply a marketing and branding tie-up and the devices would work across carriers. HTC has not put a date or price, yet.

HTC announces Desire HD and Desire Z Android superphones

    16 Sep

HTC has announced two new Android superphones with the HTC Desire HD and the Desire Z. The Desire HD resembles the Evo 4G launched on Sprint earlier this year and comes with a 4.3-inch LCD display and an 8.0 MP camera. It carries forward the Legend’s unibody, aluminium design and runs on Qualcomm’s latest 1 GHz 8255 processor from its Snapdragon family. It also comes with a ‘fast boot’ option that boots the device within 10 seconds to quickly check mails or make calls. While we ain’t sure what it means, in all probability booting the device in this mode will offer limited functionalities.

The Desire Z, on the other hand, is actually what we earlier thought was the T-Mobile G2. It looks like the Nexus One but comes with a ‘pop hinge’ mechanism to reveal a QWERTY keypad. It has a 5.0 MP camera onboard that can shoot 720p HD videos. It is also powered by a Qualcomm chipset, this time a 7230 processor clocked at 800 MHz.
