Online retailer reveals Motorola Charm launch in India

16 Nov

Online retailer, Flipkart, has word that Motorola will be launching the Charm in India for Rs 15,990 (MRP). The retailer is already giving a discount of 16 percent and is retailing it for Rs 13,499, which we believe would be its street price when Motorola releases it in the coming days and weeks.

The Charm runs on Android 2.1 and flaunts a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display with a QWERTY keypad below it in a candy bar form factor. What’s interesting, however, is it features the ‘Bactrack’ on the rear, which we first experienced in the Backflip and eventually fell in love with.

It has a 3.0 MP camera (with fixed focus, alas) that shoots videos in 24 frames per second. The Charm is also 3G enabled (HSDPA 3.6 Mbps; HSUPA 2 Mbps) and has Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity. If Flipkart has the pricing correct (we believe it does), this could be one of the better affordable Android smartphones to go for.

Having said that, we would really prefer if Moto fits its ‘affordable’ smartphones with a HVGA (320×480 pixels) display and provides cameras with auto-focus.
