LG to make an Optimus series announcement in India on November 18

16 Nov

We have been invited to an LG press conference in India on November 18 that will witness the launch of the Optimus series. Now what could this announcement be about – the Optimus One Android smartphone or LG’s Windows Phone 7 smartphones that also go with the Optimus branding?

Considering that Microsoft has already confirmed to us that Windows Phone 7 devices will be launched in India some time in 2011, in all likelihood Thursday’s announcement could be about the Optimus One. LG says that it has worked closely with Google to develop the Optimus One (the name is inspired by the Nexus One) and it runs on Froyo Android 2.2. It features a 3.2-inch WVGA (320X480 pixels) touchscreen, a 1,500 mAh battery and a 600 MHz processor. Its 3.15 MP camera comes with face tracking and smile shot features.

Word on the street is that the Optimus One will be priced at Rs 13,000. Well, we will be reporting live from the event so don’t forget to follow us on Twitter @cellpassion.
