Bharti Airtel to launch 3G in India before year-end

25 Oct

Bharti Airtel today announced that it will launch 3G services in India before the end of 2010. Airtel had earlier won 3G spectrum in 13 circles and will strike agreements with rival carriers to provide 3G roaming agreements in circles where it does not have 3G spectrum. Earlier this month, Tata DoCoMo announced its plans to commence 3G services across cities in the nine circles where it has 3G spectrum. Vodafone, too, announced that it will launch 3G services only in the first quarter of 2011. Aircel, Idea and RCom are the only 3G spectrum holders who are yet to reveal their 3G plans. We won’t be surprised if they unveil their plans before the end of this week.

In the meanwhile, head here to know who’d provide 3G services in your locality.
