(Updated) Exclusive: Micromax to launch Android smartphone on October 20

18 Oct

UPDATE: Micromax will launch an EVDO+GSM Dual-SIM, dual standby phone. Check out the details here. Indian handset vendor, Micromax, is holding a press conference on October 20 where it will introduce its first Android smartphone. The smartphone will run on Qualcomm’s chipset (probably MSM7XXX family) and is expected to be priced at under Rs 10,000. The specifications of the phone are unknown at the moment, but we would expect it to have a HVGA (320×480 pixels) touchscreen, Wi-Fi and GPS onboard. It is unknown which version of Android it will run but going by the precedence set by Spice and Videocon, it might rock Android 1.6 which would be later updated to 2.1. Though going by the fact that Micromax is now the third largest handset vendor in India, it could even have Android 2.1 right out of the box.

This is irresponsible reporting, There was no Android Launch Today. On top of that u havnt covered other Important Android Launches like VIDEOCON ZEUS V7500. U should also cover other launches from Videocon.

It was a developing story and we kept updating it through the day. Not sure if you were following it.

About the Videocon Zeus, we are currently evaluating the device and will be posting much more than a simple press release.
