How To: Change default apps on the N8

14 Oct

Symbian^3 on the N8 brings along some new features that were not present in Symbian^1 or S60 5th edition. Some of these settings are so well-hidden that even we missed them during our review. One of these settings allows the user to change the default app for some functions. For instance, we were able to set Opera Mobile as the default web browser. While setting third party apps as default apps comes naturally to Android, to do so on the N8 one needs to tinker around a bit. Go to the settings menu and from there go to Application Settings. There you’d find Default Applications. From here, you can change the default browser, music player, video player and image viewer apps. If you hit Options and select Advanced Settings, you’d be able to change some more apps, mostly related to MS Office suite. Check it out and let us know what third-party apps you have set as your default apps.
