HTC announces Desire HD and Desire Z Android superphones

HTC has announced two new Android superphones with the HTC Desire HD and the Desire Z. The Desire HD resembles the Evo 4G launched on Sprint earlier this year and comes with a 4.3-inch LCD display and an 8.0 MP camera. It carries forward the Legend’s unibody, aluminium design and runs on Qualcomm’s latest 1 GHz 8255 processor from its Snapdragon family. It also comes with a ‘fast boot’ option that boots the device within 10 seconds to quickly check mails or make calls. While we ain’t sure what it means, in all probability booting the device in this mode will offer limited functionalities.

The Desire Z, on the other hand, is actually what we earlier thought was the T-Mobile G2. It looks like the Nexus One but comes with a ‘pop hinge’ mechanism to reveal a QWERTY keypad. It has a 5.0 MP camera onboard that can shoot 720p HD videos. It is also powered by a Qualcomm chipset, this time a 7230 processor clocked at 800 MHz.
