Nokia launches dual-SIM phones in India

31 Aug

Nokia today launched its first dual-SIM phones in India. Priced at Rs 1,999, the C1-00 is a very basic Symbian S30 phone and boasts a flashlight and FM radio as the extra bells and whistles. However, only one SIM will work at a time and Nokia talks about a call divert feature, which according to our understanding, will divert calls from the non-functioning SIM to the other number. While it sounds like a good feature to have, Nokia might be missing the point here considering that the user would have to pay for the call diversion! We are not yet sure how this feature works and whether it automatically diverts calls or a user can opt in for the feature.

The C2-00 will be the second Nokia dual-SIM phone though the handset vendor has not yet revealed its price. It has a hot swappable external SIM slot to change SIM cards and supports dual standby – both SIM cards are functional simultaneously. It runs Symbian S40 and will come with Nokia Life Tools service. Other features include a microSD card slot (up to 32 GB!), FM radio and a VGA camera.
