GetJar to provide app downloads via Bolt browser in a revenue share deal

6 Aug

bolt-browser-logoGetJar, the world’s largest third-party app store this side of ‘the’ App Store has partnered with Bitstream, the makers of Bolt mobile browser, to provide a quick access link to Get Jar’s online app store on Bolt. Under the deal, GetJar will share revenues with Bitstream for premium apps downloaded via the browser.

GetJar, which has over 70,000 apps and has registered over a billion downloads, charges developers for premium placing of their apps. GetJar will split revenues with Bitstream whenever a Bolt browser user downloads any of those premium apps. The Bolt browser, like Opera Mini, works on any Java ME compatible cellphone.

GetJar has also signed an agreement with Indian carrier, RCom, and many Indian handset vendors are looking at the company to power their own app stores.
