Huawei likely to launch an Android smartphone in India

27 Jul

Huawei is likely to launch its range of cellphones in India on Thursday, July 29. We have learnt that the Chinese telecom giant has roped in Bright Telecom as their distributor in India. Bright Telecom currently distributes cellphones under the GPhone brand in the country. It currently also distributes Huawei’s CDMA phones.

Huawei has a range of cellphones in its GSM, UMTS and CDMA portfolio. Considering that Thursday’s launch event is jointly hosted by Huawei and Qualcomm, we have a hunch that it could be about its Android phones that run on Qualcomm’s MSM 72XX chipsets. Huawei currently has three Android phones – the U8110, U8100 and U8300.
