India's 3G spectrum auction: Day Four update

The fourth day of bidding witnesssed an interesting turn of events when a bid of Rs 459.52 crore for Gujarat surpassed the Rs 437.65 crore bid for Delhi, making Gujarat the most expensive circle at the end of 22 rounds of bidding. Carriers are showing keen interest in seven circles — Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka — where bids have crossed Rs 400 crore. The remaining 15 circles are under Rs 200 crore each with Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Orissa left without any bidders so far. The provisional all-India winning price is now at Rs 4,582.52 crore as against the base price of Rs 3,500 crore.
