Qualcomm bids for Broadband Wireless Access license in India

17 Mar

Qualcomm has bid for radio waves in India’s BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) auction. BWA technologies facilitate faster data communication over wireless links. If the company wins the license in the auction which is likely to take place on April 9, it will deploy LTE (Long Term Evolution) services, more like 4G technology in India.

Since foreign companies cannot acquire more than 74 per cent share in the investment, Qualcomm is looking forward to form a joint venture with an Indian partner. Who will be the partner is not known till now but we might get to know through the briefing which is about to start in about half an hour. We’ll update you with any further information.
