HTC to launch Snap with WinMo 6.5 in India

24 Jan

Our trusted sources on the street tell us that HTC is planning to launch the Snap in India around January 26. The non-touchscreen WinMo smartphone will be upgraded to WinMo 6.5 and will be available at around Rs 13,000.

The Snap was announced in April last year and was not scheduled to be launched in India. However, it seems, the emergence of the BlackBerry 8520 and the popularity of Nokia’s E63 might have forced HTC to launch it in India. The Snap has a 528 MHz processor, with 256 MB ROM/128 MB RAM and was originally meant for WinMo 6.1. With the update, it would probably be the first non-touchscreen phone to run WinMo 6.5. Other specs include up to 8.5 hours of talktime, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G connectivity, a 2.0 MP camera and a 2.4 inch display.
