WinMo 7 ain't backward compatible with WinMo 6.5?

17 Jan

There are only a few people out there to have a clout inside the cellphone industry as Mobile Review’s editor, Eldar Murtazin. Well, let’s put it this way – this dude gets hold of prototype phones from almost every handset vendor worth its salt (barring Apple, obviously) and also manages to post pictures and pass his verdict even before these phones are announced!

So we don’t mind betting our chips on this latest Tweet from him where he’s frustrated that he cannot install apps on his Windows Mobile 7 device (we don’t know which one). The reason? WinMo7 apparently is not backward compatible with older versions! Now, no matter how idiotic that might make Microsoft that went chest thumping about the number of apps WinMo has out there in the wild, we are sure that they can come up with a convincing reason for this.

We won’t have to wait long to hear Microsoft’s side of the story as the official launch is expected at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month.
