Samsung to launch CDMA Corby phone in India

4 Dec

Samsung is expected to launch a CDMA variant of its Corby phone in India. The CDMA variant will come in the Open Handset Model and will be able to operate across all CDMA carriers in India.

The Corby would essentially be one of the few touchscreen CDMA phones in the country and will be the first to focus on mobile social networking.

On the features front, we are told it would be exactly the same as the GSM variant so we are looking at a 2.8 inch QVGA display, a 2.0 MP camera and Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface.

The Corby has been extremely popular and has already sold over 3 million units globally. Since it would be the first such ‘high profile’ CDMA phone targeted at youth in India, we expect it to be extremely popular.

While the exact price of the CDMA Corby isn’t known yet, we expect to to be around Rs 10,000.
