Samsung launches Corby in India, gives it a premium price-tag

1 Oct

Samsung has launched its first Social Networking Phone — the Corby — in India. Targeted at the youth segment, the Corby has applications for popular social networking sites like Facebook, My Space, Friendster and Twitter, apart from user generated content portals like Flickr, Picasa, YouTube and Photobucket.

Confirming with the current fad of all-touchscreen candy bar form-factor, it comes with replaceable back covers that come in numerous bright colours, which Samsung believes will attract youngsters (though we aren’t quite sure…).

On the specifications front, it has a 2.8-inch QVGA display, a 2.0 MP camera, FM radio, 50 MB of internal memory that can be bumped up to 8 GB and quad-band EDGE/GSM connectivity.

What bothers us the most, however, is the price tag of Rs 9,600 that it carries. Samsung has piched it above the Star that comes with similar features and a better 3.2 MP camera. The Star is available for under Rs 9,000 in India.
