2 Sep

At the Qualcomm India On event in New Delhi, Bharti Airtel CEO and president, Manoj Kohli said that he hopes to see commercial 3G networks in India by October 2010. He added that he expected the gestation period for 3G would be around a year and people would then “embrace 3G”.

Last week, an Empowered Group of Ministers (EGOM) set Rs 3,500 crore as the reserved base price for auction of Pan-India 3G spectrum. There will be a maximum of five slots available in every circle, of which one will be allocated to BSNL or MTNL. The process is expected to be completed within 90 days.
